In Memoriam
DANNY ROY
YOUNG
May 29, 1941 - August 20, 2008

Danny Roy in Big Lu-Lu, his
1954 Chevy station wagon.
Danny Roy Young came to South Austin in 1975, and it was never the same again. As owner of the popular Texicalli Grille, "Lord of the Board" for the Cornell Hurd Band, and all-around great human being, Danny did so much for others that he came to be known as "the Unofficial Mayor of South Austin"-- although, as many have said, he was more like our soul.
A passionate collector of pop memorabilia, Danny joined the Museum's founding board in June of 2005, moving to the Advisory Board when he retired from the restaurant two years later. He now joins Jack Jackson and Clifford Antone as one of our "Spiritual Advisors," for if anyone ever got into heaven, it had to be Danny Roy Young.
Services for Danny will be held at 3:00 P.M. Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at First United Methodist Church (1201 Lavaca Street) followed by a reception at Antone's (213 West 5th Street).
